For those unaware of this development, you can pay for Facebook advertisements using your Naira cards. This was disclosed by Chris Cox, Facebook’s Chief Product Officer, at a recent event in Lagos.

When Facebook’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, visited Nigeria in 2016, Nigerian entrepreneurs made their request known to him; for the platform to allow payments in the Nigerian currency. The company has gone ahead to grant their request.

“With 8.6 million people in Nigeria using Facebook on mobile every day, Facebook is a great place for businesses to reach their customers and market their products and services”, Cox said.

The only hiccup with this method is your payment has to been within your banks’ monthly spending limit.

Most of the Nigerian banks have stopped international transactions on their Naira denominated cards. However, GTBank and Access Bank currently allow international transactions on their cards but with monthly limits of $100 and $200 respectively.
